Husband and wife, Deke and Joyce Polifka will share tips for how to help middle and high school students develop “useful” skills on their instruments. For over 20 years the Polifkas have worked with hundreds of young musicians, both as private keyboard instructors and directors of youth choirs. They feel passionate about the importance of providing opportunities and experiences for young students to develop their musical skills beyond solo recital performance, with the hope that these skills will carry them into adulthood with a desire to continue making music, either as amateurs or professionals.
