Free Recital, Workshop and Masterclass

Free Recital, Workshop and Masterclass

On October 13 and 14th, Violist Shelia Browne will be presenting a recital and Karen Tuttle Coordination Workshop and Masterclass at the University of Virginia. Through the generous support and funding by the McIntire Department of Music at the University of Virginia we are able to host these events at no charge.

Who is Karen Tuttle and what is a coordination workshop?

Coordination is the word that Tuttle used to refer to her approach to the instrument. There are many aspects to this, including stance, balancing the instrument, physical releases, musical impulses, and emotional responses to the music. These concepts will be introduced to all of the participants, and all of the teachers will work with the participants to help them learn this approach.

This mini residency will include:

Friday, October 13th at 8pm, Old Cabell Hall Auditorium, UVA

Shelia Browne, viola and Julie Nishimura, piano

Recital Program to include: Shatin, Piazolla, Schumann, and Bartok

Saturday Oct. 14th, Old Cabell Hall, Room B12, UVA.
